Vera Strebel

Vera Mae (Brannan) Strebel, 72,  died t 10:42 a.m., Wednesday, August 26, 2009 at Jerseyville Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. She was born in Carrollton on May 7, 1937,  she was one of seven children born to the family of the late Charles & Florence (Moore) Brannan. Vera grew up in the Carrollton/Berdan area, and graduated from Medora High School.  She loved her family and spendin gime with her grandchildren, and enjoyed music and singing. She was formerly married to William Bailey.  They were married on Aug.22, 1959, and together they were the parents of two children.  She later married Donald Strebel on July 17, 1993 in Fidelity, and he passed away on Sept. 18, 2008 after 15 years of marriage. Surviving are a daughter & son in  law, Billie Mae & Terry Laubscher of Brighton; a son & daughter in law, John Russell Strebel, and his companion, Theresa Browning of South Roxana; four grandchildren, Ciara Mae & Erin Cathryn Laubscher, and Corey & Brandon Bailey.; numerous nieces & nephews, including a special niece and her husband, Nancy & Dan Rogers of Grafton. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Elmer & Melvin Brannan; and four sisters, Hazel Herring, Mildred Herring, Zelma Smith and Leona Boal. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville, where funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday.  Rev. Mark Myers will officiate. She will be buried in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville. Memorials may be given to the Fidelity Assembly of God.
