Peter B. "Jabo" Schwegel, 70, passed away at 7:44 a.m. Saturday August 15, 2009 at St. Anthony's Health Center in Alton.
He was born on December 25, 1938 in Alton the son of Peter and Louise (Hess) Schwegel.
Peter was married to Margaret ?Maggie" Stice on February 4, 1961 in Alton, IL. She survives.
He own and operated the State Street Tomboy for over 20 years and had other business interests. He very much enjoyed trips to Chicago with his grandchildren and watching the Cardinals and Cubs baseball games.
He is survived by his wife Maggie, one daughter Sandy Schwegel of Alton, two sons Peter J and his wife Tammy Schwegel of Jerseyville, Mark E. Schwegel of Cottage Hills, two grandchildren Lauren and Logan Schwegel of Jerseyville, three sisters Barbara Fallon of Denver, CO, Carolyn and husband Terry Dooley of Alton, Mary and husband Jim Gillette of Bartelsville, OK, four brothers Bud Schwegel of Alton, Tom and his wife Jeanie Schwegel of Rochester, NY, Jim and his wife Sue Schwegel of Godfrey, John and his wife Margaret Schwegel of Alton and Edward ?Butch' and his wife Carla Schwegel of Godfrey.
His parents preceded him in death.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm Tuesday August 18, 2009 at the Elias Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton, where funeral services will be held at 10 am Wednesday August 19, 2009 at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Father Jim Walther O.M.V. officiating.
Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Alton, IL.
