Sue Bartels, 68, died at 9:07 am Friday August 14, 2009 at St. Anthony's Health Center.
She was born on April 27, 1941, in Galatia, IL. The daughter of Wilburn and hazel (Thompson) Forrester.
Sue married Merle Bartels, on August 28, 1964 in Alton, IL. He survives.
She lived in the river bend area for most of her life; she was an avid crafter and raised Christmas Trees for over 31 years. She was employed at the Illinois State Bank, in the 1960's as a teller. She loved gardening and watching birds.
Sue is survived by her husband, one son; Brian and his wife Judith Lynne Bartels of Fosterburg, and one sister; Brenda and her husband Robin Staggs of Roxanna, IL.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by one sister; Pat Allen, and two brothers; Willie Forrester, and Donald Forrester.
Visitation will be from 2 to 6 pm Sunday August 16, 2009 at the Elias Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton, where funeral services will be held at 11 am Monday August 17, 2009 with Jerry Parks Officiating.
Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens, Bethalto, IL.
