Tom Lewis, age 60, passed away at 2:30 pm Tuesday, August 4, 2009 at his residence.
He was born in Alton, IL on February 24, 1949, son of William D. & Freda B. (Budd) Lewis. His mother survives of Alton.
He married to Jane L. (Thomas) on March 24, 1970 in Alton, having had 39 years of marriage. She survives.
Tom was employed in the insurance business for 39 years, owning and operating Lewis Insurers in Godfrey. He was a member of the 1st Presbyterian Church in Alton and the National Association of Life Underwriters for insurance. He loved woodworking, restoring his model T., was passionate about the St. Louis Cardinals and loved to spend time with his family, friends and especially his grandchildren.
Besides his wife and mother he is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Jason & Elias Lewis of Mt. Zion, IL and daughter, Jennifer Lewis of Kirkwood, MO; two grandchildren, Nicholas and Emily Lewis both of Mt. Zion; one sister and brother-in-law, Lorrainne & Mike Aubuchon of St. Louis, MO; one brother and sister-in-law, James & Dee Lewis of Godfrey; one sister-in-law, Martha Lewis of Alton and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his father and one brother Spencer Lewis.
Visitation will be from 11 am to 1 pm on Friday, August 7, 2009 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey.
Funeral Services will take place at 1:30 pm on Friday, August 7, 2009 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey, with Rev. Chris Hucker officiating.
Burial will follow at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey.
Memorials may be made to the Alton Band and Orchestra Builders.
