Mary J. Cronin, age 93 of Godfrey died at 5:30 pm on Friday, July 24, 2009 at Alton Memorial Hospital.
She was born in West Virginia the daughter of the late Anthony and Louisa (Sadovic) Cikovic. She was sergeant in the US Marine Corps during WWII and retired in 1984 after 30 years as a cashier at Sears & Roebuck in downtown Alton. She married James J. Cronin on August 19, 1957 and he died on August 17, 2008.
She is survived by a brother; Paul Carroll of Aurora, Ohio, two sisters; Tilly Hayden of Morgantown, W.Virginia and Mildred Allen of Summerfield, Florida, a brother in law; Edgar Cronin of Alton. She was preceded in death by a brother; Frank Cikovic and a sister; Betty Smith.
Visitation will be from 5 ? 7 pm on Wednesday, July 29, 2009 at Gent Funeral Home I Alton where funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday with Deacon William Kessler officiating. Burial will be at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey.
