Nadean Rieken, 86, passed away at 6:15 a.m. Saturday, July 4, 2009 .
She was born in Edwardsville Aug. 28, 1922 to Alvin and Charity Ann (Coalson) Barnes.
A schoolteacher in the Bethalto School District, she was also a member of the Wood River Women's Golf Association.
On March 10, 1946 in Wood River, she married George E. Rieken. He preceded her in death on June 3, 2006.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Tammy Rieken of Reno; five grandchildren, Lisa Darr and Erin Watson, both of East Alton, Brandon James, Alyson Victoria, and Shane Christopher, all of Reno; two great grandsons, Braydon Hensley and Jadyn Watson, both of East Alton; and a son-in-law, Fred Bright of East Alton.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Shirley Bright; and a sister, Audrey Ahlquist.
A committal service will be held at the Moro Cemetery at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 28.
Memorials may be made to the Moro Presbyterian Church.
