William H. "Bill" St. Peters

William H. "Bill" St. Peters, 65, formerly of Godfrey, loving husband, father, grandfather, and dear friend passed from this life on Saturday, July 11, 2009 at Alton Memorial Hospital with his loving family by his side.

Born August 13, 1943 in Alton, he was the son of Herbert and Mildred "Millie" St. Peters.
He graduated from Alton High School in 1961. He served in the Navy during the Vietnam War. He was the owner and President of Safety Partners, LTD in Godfrey. He was the Lieutenant Governor Illinois-Iowa district 34 Kiwanis, also a member of the Franklin Masonic Lodge 25. He was a member of the Ainad Shrine Temple, a member of the Board of Directors Riverbend Growth Association, and a member of the Wood River Moose Lodge.
Also, he was a volunteer for the Special Olympics for 28 years, a past President of the American Heart Association, served on the board for the March of Dimes, and was an accomplished Refinery Fire & Emergency Response Instructor at Texas A&M.
He married the former Norma Volentine on October 15, 2008 in Jerseyville. She survives. Also surviving are two sons and their wives, Chris and Michelle St. Peters of East Alton, and Chad and Rene' St. Peters of Edwardsville, a step-daughter, Diane Stallard of Bunker Hill, a step-son and his wife, Dave and Becky Volentine of Staunton, ten grandchildren; Keely and Kaylynn St. Peters, Colten and Nic Daily, Chase St. Peters, Chris and Scott Stallard, Niki, Dain, and Mason Volentine, and one great grandchild, Emmie Stallard. He was preceded in death by his parents.

In celebration of his life, visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 14, 2009 with Masonic Rites being performed at 7:00 p.m. at Gent Funeral Home in Alton where funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 15, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. Reverend Pam Laing will officiate.
Burial will be at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, Special Olympics, or the American Heart Association.
