Maston Earl Smith, 82, died at 10:07 p.m. Wednesday, July 8, 2009 at his home in Hartford.
Born September 28, 1926 in Golden Pond, Kentucky, he was the son of Lonnie Arthur and Winnie Myrtle (Oakley) Smith.
He was a sheet metal worker for Olin and also worked for the Village of Hartford. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Alton and a 50 year member of the Wood River Masonic Lodge.
On June 19, 1947 in Roxana, he married the former Margaret Nell Kirby. She survives. Also surviving are two daughters; Rebecca Davis of S. Roxana, and RaNell Consiglio and her husband Joe of Hartford, two grandchildren; Ryan Davis and Kimberly Consiglio, three great grandchildren; William and Hannah Consiglio and Shaylin Davis, one brother, Lonnie Smith and his wife Fern of Hartford, and two sisters; Flo Jarvis of Greenville, and Edna Rainey and her husband Bob of Greenville. He was preceded in death by his parents, a granddaughter, Catherin Consiglio, two brothers, and three sisters.
Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Friday at Gent Funeral Home in Alton where funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday. Reverend Andre' Dobson and Earl Cannedy will officiate.
Burial will be at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey. Memorials may be made to the Bethel Christian Academy in South Roxana where William and Hannah attend.
