Bertha Farley

Bertha M. Farley, 94, passed away Friday, June 19, 2009 at her home.
Born Sept. 6, 1914 in Jackson, Tenn.
She was the daughter of Millard F. and Rhoda Margaret (Gardner) Neisler.
She worked as a secretary for Barton Lumber in South Roxana for 12 years and had also worked for Smith & Wesson in East Alton as an inspector.
On Nov. 2, 1936, she married Arthur L. Farley in Alton. He passed away Dec. 12, 1959.
A graduate of Brown Business College, she was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Alton, the Wood River American Legion Auxiliary and Order of Eastern Star.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, William and Vivian Farley of Merritt Island, Fla.; three grandsons and their wives, Glen and Cindy Farley, Mark and Cynthia Farley and Dana and Connie Farley; five great grandchildren, Kristen, David, Jacob, Jessica and Joy Farley; and a great-great granddaughter, Hope Farley; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Michael David Farley; two sisters, Velma Barton and Exie White; and a brother, Ottest Smith.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Paynic Home for Funerals in Rosewood Heights, and will continue Thursday at Calvary Baptist Church from 9 a.m. until time of service at 10 a.m. Rev. Andre Dobson will officiate.
Burial will follow at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey.
