Fredrick Schell

Wood River |

Fredrick J. Schell, 82, passed away at 2:35 pm on Wednesday, June 17, 2009 at VIP Manor in Wood River.

He was born on April 10, 1927 in Jerseyville, IL, the son of Joseph and Theresa Schell.

He married Madge Bonds on May 22, 1948 at St. Francis Church in Jerseyville, IL. She preceded him in death.

Fredrick served his country in the U.S. Navy during WW II. He worked at Laclede Steel as a pipefitter/plumber until he retired in 1986. He was a member of Holy Angel Catholic Church in Wood River, a lifetime member of the East Alton American Legion #794, a member of the Wood River VFW #2805 and the Wood River Moose Lodge.
He is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Reba Rawlings of East Alton and Victoria & Edward Parsons of Wood River; a son and daughter-in-law, Fredrick Bruce & Anna Schell of Warrensburg, MO; 10 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren and his fiancé, Anne Carter of Wood River.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Carol Solomon and eleven siblings.

A memorial Mass will be at 10:00 am on Saturday, June 20, 2009 at Holy Angels Catholic Church in Wood River with Father Jim Flach officiating.
Burial will follow at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey.

Memorials may be made to Masses or Parkinson's Association.
