Joseph Edward Huebener, 87, died at 7:10 p.m. Tuesday, May 19, 2009 at Rosewood Care Center. Born August 12, 1922 in Brighton, he was the son of Victor F. and Mayme (Fuser) Huebener. He was a member of St. Ambrose Church in Godfrey, the St. Ambrose Men's Club, and the East Alton Wood River Sportsmen's Club. He retired from Owens Illinois Glass in Godfrey as a machinist after over 60 years of service. Surviving is a brother, Harold Huebener of Shawnee Mission, KS, two sisters, Frances Schmidt and her husband Elden of Godfrey, and Mary Ann Siesener of St. Louis, MO, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Martin and Victor Huebener, and a sister, Ethyl Hoskins. Visitation will be from 9:30 .m. until time of Mass of Christian burial at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at St. Ambrose Church in Godfrey. Father Steve Pohlman will officiate. Burial will be at Brighton Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Marquette High School or Masses. Gent Funeral Home in Alton is in charge of arrangements.
