Doris Pace, age 82, passed away at 4 p.m. on Monday, April 6, 2009, at Rosewood Care Center, in Alton, Illinois.
She was born on March 6, 1927, in Hollow Rock, TN, to Samuel B. and Nancy Elvira (Groom) Hester.
Doris married John Pace on June 30, 1946, in Corinth, MS, he preceded her in death on January 18, 1985.
Doris was employed at the East Junior Cafeteria for over 17 yrs., she was a charter member of the Alton 1st Southern Baptist Church. she enjoyed spending time with her family.
She is survived by two daughters and their spouses; Linda R. and Dan Kreitner, of Alton, Il. Annette and Brad Bartow, of Kearney, MO. three sons and their spouses; Randy and Chris Pace, of Bethalto, Roger and Karen Pace, of Brighton, Il. and David and Linda Pace, of Shipman, Il. one sister, Joyce Travis, of Lansing, MI., and fourteen grandchildren, and seventeen great-grandchildren,
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a daughter Cynthia in infancy and two sisters.
Visitation will be Wednesday, April 8, 2009, from 4 to 8 pm, at the Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton, Il. where funeral services will be at 10 am on Thursday, April 9, 2009, the Rev. Bob Harris officiating.
Burial will follow at the Upper Alton Cemetery, in Alton, Il. .
Memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Association or BJC Hospice.
