Charlotte Cress

Charlotte Maxine Cress, went to be with the Lord at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 3, 2009 at VIP Manor in Wood River with her family by her side.

She was born on July 7, 1927 in Freetown, Indiana, the daughter of Charles & Ruth E. (Chappalier) Weekly.

Maxine was a homemaker most of her life. She was a member of the Bethalto United Methodist Church. Maxine and her husband were in charge of the Bethalto United Methodist Cemetery for many years. She was a member of the Eastern Star, Rebekkas, Odd Fellows, White Shrine, Bethalto American Legion Auxiliary, Order of the Amaranth where she was previously was the Grand Royal Matron for the State of Illinois and she served as a den mother for Pack 103 Boy Scouts.

She is survived by 3 sons and 2 daughters-in-law, Charles W. Cress of Ohio, Robert "Bob" E. & Penny Cress of Bethalto and William "Bill" E. & Sue Anne Cress of Marlton, NJ and 3 grandchildren, R. Ryan Cress of Bethalto, Cara C. Cress of Bethalto and Joseph W. Cress of Marlton, N.J.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband,

In celebration of her life, visitation will be from 4 pm to 9 pm on Friday, February 6, 2009 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto. Funeral services will be at 10 am on Saturday, February 7, 2009 at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral home in Bethalto with Pastor John Tennyson officiating.

Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Behtalto

Memorials may be made to Heartland Hospice and or Bethalto United Methodist Church.
