Marie Rosine Schenk, 89, went to be with the Lord, on Wednesday, October 8, 2008 at 12:40 a.m. at Blu-Fountain Manor in Godfrey.
She was born on July 24, 1919 in Staunton, IL, the daughter of the late Bill & Mary (Brown) Brennan.
She married Carl E. Schenk on October 6, 1943. He preceded her in death in 2002.
She was a homemaker most of her life. She was a member and served as vice president of St. Ruth's Altar Soc. of St. Ambrose Church in Godfrey. She loved to cook, help her neighbors, spend time in her rose garden, was Secretary of the Business and Industrial Girls Club Tea in Alton and loved to spend time with her family and friends.
She is survived by her son, James William Schenk of Godfrey; a brother-in-law and three sisters-in-law, George & Jean Schenk of Godfrey, Donna Schenk of E. Alton and Agnes Schenk of Laguna Beach, CA and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Virginia Cole and Lucille Olson and one brother, James Brennan.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, October 10, 2008 at Staten Funeral Home in Alton. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 11, 2008 at Saint Ambrose Church in Godfrey with Father Steve Pohlman as celebrant.
Burial will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Alton.
Memorials may be made to Masses.
