Daniel E. Vandevord, age 84, passed away at 2:46 a.m. on Wednesday, March 5, 2008 at St. Anthony's Health Center in Alton.
He was born on February 15, 1924 in Harco, Illinois, the son of Henry & Hazel Manila (Carpenter) Vandevord.
He married Estaleene Waters on June 5, 1955 at Saints Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Alton. She survives.
Daniel was a graduate of Bradley University School of Horology. He retired from East Alton Elementary School System after 30 years of service and was a self employed watchmaker. He was a member of the Masonic Lodges, Raleigh #128, Bunker Hill #151, Shipman #212, Gillespie #214 and the Alt Wood Shrine Club, Bond County Shrine Club and Ainad Temple in East St. Louis..
Besides his wife, he is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Richard & Debbie Vandevord of Bethalto and a daughter and son-in-law, Theda & Gordon Bond of Moro; four grandchildren, Nicholas Bond, William Vandevord, Robert Vandevord and Courtney Bond; and two brothers, Charles Vandevord of Wood River and George Vandevord of Williston, VT.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, March 7, 2008 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto with Masonic services. Funeral services will be Saturday, March 8, 2008 with Father Tom Liebler officiating.
Burial will be at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto
