Evelyn Bartels Ireland, 80, passed away Saturday, May 3, 2008 at United Methodist Village in Godfrey, IL.
She was born December 7, 1927, the daughter of the late William and Amy (Schmidt) Bartels. She married John Joseph Ireland on December 18, 1954 at St. John's Evangelical Church in Wood River, IL and he preceded her in death.
Mrs. Ireland was a homemaker. She was a member of Midway United Church of Christ in Midway, IL.
She is survived by 2 sons: Jan (wife Marlene) Ireland of O'Fallon, MO, and Dan (wife Diane) Ireland of Long Beach, CA. 1 Daughter: Debbie (husband Baron) Cheffer of Spokane, WA. A sister: Dorothy Factor of Bethalto, IL. 5 Grandchildren: Josh Gillen, Brian Ireland, Jana Shortt, Jules Cheffer, and B.J. Cheffer. 6 Great-grandchildren: Grace Shortt, Henry Shortt, Jordan Ireland, Joelle Ireland, Taylor Gillen, and Jordan Gillen.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband John Joseph Ireland.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 6, 2008 from 11:30 am till time of the funeral service at 1 pm at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home, 727 E. Bethalto Blvd., Bethalto, IL. Burial in RoseLawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto, IL.
