Preston Kueper

Edwardsville |

Preston Joseph Kueper, age 34 of Edwardsville, born May 13, 1988, in Belleville, tragically passed away on April 18, 2023, en route to Anderson Hospital in Maryville, due to a medical emergency.

Preston was baptized in July 1988 by his parents at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Troy. He renewed his love for God by being baptized on December 24, 2012 at Grace Church in Fairview Heights. He graduated from Edwardsville High School, and met his beloved life partner, Amber O’Neal, on June 6, 2011. Together, they created a wonderful life.  He took pride in being a family man and being a father was his greatest accomplishment. Preston loved his girls with all his heart. Even though he was an only child, instead of being selfish, he grew up to be extremely generous, caring, and was the best son ever. He was constantly surrounded by family. Learning mechanic skills from his uncle Michael, and carpentry skills from his uncle Steve's roofing company, Preston earned the nickname, “Mr. Fix It”.

He worked in the maintenance department at Marriott St. Louis Airport, and was on track to be the head of maintenance in his own building. Preston enjoyed wrenching on cars and driving fast. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved fishing, hunting, and camping. Preston lived his best life by being his authentic self, even when it included being blunt. But behind that bluntness, was a friend who was charming, generous, and would do anything for anyone.

Preston was preceded in death by his grandparents, Steve and Shirley Bovinett, Shirley’s life partner, Tom McElroy, and Terry Kueper; an uncle, Michael Bovinett; and a cousin, Britanny Bovinett.

Surviving are his beloved life partner; three daughters, Addison Justine, Penelope Josephine, and Charlotte J. Kueper - due in July 2023; parents, Michelle Bovinett of Troy, and Shane Kueper of Breese; grandparents, Kevin and Denice Brumitt of Wood River; three uncles, Steve (Tanya) Bovinett of Caseyville, Destry (Mindy) Kueper of Glen Carbon, and Kassidy (Angela) Kueper of Highland; an aunt, Tiffany (Kevin) Brandt of Edwardsville; ten cousins, Devon, Adam, Lacey, Jenna, Clayton, Demi, Beau, Bella, Keegan, and Stella; his dog, Shampson “Buddos” Kueper; as well as many more cousins, friends, rivals, and good-doers.

Memorial visitation will be 11am - 2pm Saturday, April 29, 2023 at Barry Wilson Funeral Home, Maryville, IL. Memorial service will follow at 2pm. His mother has asked to bring tokens of remembrance to place in a remembrance box during the services.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Amber O'Neal for the rearing and future education of Addison, Penelope, and Charlotte, and will be received at the visitation, through PayPal (aoneal9311@gmail.com) or can be mailed to Barry Wilson Funeral Home, 2800 N.
