Donna J. Hellinger, 84, of Worden, peacefully passed away while surrounded by her family on Monday, June 27, 2022, at 10:20 pm while at The Glenwood Supportive Living of Staunton.
She was born on April 9, 1938, in Bethalto, the daughter of Hilbert and Ida (Schoenbaum) Brakhane.
She married Richard “Rich” Hellinger on October 6, 1963, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Hamel. He preceded her in death on June 23, 2014.
Donna was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Hamel and on the Ladies Aide, Quilting Club, Card Club, and the Missionary League. She enjoyed flowers, gardening, sewing, making cherry t-rings and apple butter with her family, bible study, and spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Randy (Stephanie) Hellinger of Staunton, and Rodney (Beth) Hellinger of Worden; a sister, Jeannette Endres of Sparta; and two grandchildren, Chloe K. and Riley F. Hellinger.
Along with her parents, and husband, Rich, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Nicholas Joseph Hellinger.
Visitation will be on Thursday, June 30, 2022, from 9 am until the time of service at 11 am, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Hamel. Pastor Benjamin Ball will officiate. Burial will follow at Zion Lutheran Church in Bethalto. Elias, Kallal, and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto is in charge of arrangements.
