Allean Watson

Alton |

Allean Watson (84) was the firstborn and only daughter of five children born to Mr. Frank and Laura Watson. She attended school in the Alton District before receiving her GED and later became a Licensed Cosmetologist. She could press hair like nobody's business!

Allean gave her life to Christ at an early age and was a member of St. John Baptist Church.  In her younger years she joined a church in Chicago where she resided for most of her adult life.  Often asked about her favorite scripture and her response would always be "All of them."

Allean always said that she would live in the big city, and she did just that.  She first moved to New York City and later relocated to Chicago, IL. Allean spent most of her years doing hair and spending time with the love of her life, Mr. Warren Hull. After his passing, she moved back to Alton, IL. to be closer to family.

Allean loved reading her bible, sending scriptures to encourage others, and listening to gospel or preaching.  She also enjoyed stitching material together to make a quilt, crocheting, knitting, cooking, and baking. Her butter rolls and homemade ice cream were always in high demand. Allean loved having conversations with her special cousin, Lorraine Rhodes. She was quick to tell someone "You ain't my boss," "I'm going to knock yo block off," "You must be a dumb-dumb," "Nim-compoot!," "I'm gonna knock you through a wall," "You out here looking & acting like a don't know what." or "You gon' wake up and find yo-self dead." Even in her declining health, her feisty spirit was still present until the last week before she transitioned.  It was experiences such as these that will always be the laughter to fill the hearts of all she met.

Allean was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Laura Watson Sr., her brother, Frank Watson Jr, life companion, Warren Hull, and a special aunt, Catherine Burrows.

Although Allean was the auntie, she was more like a grandmother to her nieces and nephews, Sherry Watson and Lamon Watson of San Bernadina, CA, T'racey Caine, R. Curtis (Usheka)Watson, Larry Watson all of Alton, Lorne (Anita) Watson of Phoenix, AZ., Aleesha, Michael & Amanda Watson of Worchester, Mass., Stephanie (Anthony) Booker of Houston, Tx., Johnna (Eric) Meany of Austin, TX., and Rebekah (Dale) Roberson of Phoenix, AZ.

Allean leaves to cherish her memories her brothers, William (Janice)Watson, Robert Watson of Alton, IL, and Richard (Ann) Watson of Mass., 28 great-nieces and nephews, 15 great-great nieces and nephews, and a host of cousins.
