Rose McCourt

Rose Marie McCourt, 85, of Gillespie, IL, died at Heritage Health of Gillespie, IL on Sunday, January 9, 2022, at 10:49 am. 

She was born September 7, 1936, in Senath, MO to John Smith & Maude (Gholson) Smith.  She married William A. McCourt, Sr. on May 17, 1958, in Madison, IL.  He preceded her in death on December 29, 2007.  She was a hairdresser.  Rose was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and the Trinity Baptist Church. 

She is survived by her son, William A. (Vicki) McCourt Jr. of Gillespie, IL, daughters, Debbie (Norman) Deck of Carlinville, IL, Michelle (Buddy) Hagan of Plainview, IL, Tracy (Jeff) Shaw of Gillespie, IL, 13 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, siblings, Sally Grimes of MO, Barbara (Carl) Creasey of Alton, IL, Donald Smith of FL, Mel (Bobbie) Smith of Granite City, IL and Judy (Doug) Jones of MS. 

Rose was preceded in death by her parents, spouse, son, Terry McCourt, siblings, Charlie Smith, Joe Smith, Bobby Smith, Alma Jean Smith, Dorothy Whitlock, Ted Smith, and Betty Vogel. 

Friends may call on Thursday, January 13, 2022, at Kravanya Funeral Home, Gillespie, IL from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm.  Funeral services are Thursday, January 13, 2022, at 1:00 pm at Kravanya Funeral Home, Gillespie, IL.  Burial will be at Gillespie Cemetery, Gillespie, IL.  Memorials are suggested to Trinity Baptist Church.  Anyone wishing to send an online condolence may do so at www.kravanyafuneral.com.  Kravanya Funeral Home, Gillespie, IL is in charge of the arrangements.
