Betty Evers

Betty E. Evers, 90, of Collinsville, IL, born on May 23, 1931 in Granite City, IL, passed away on Wednesday, December 15, 2021 at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, IL.

Betty was a 1949 Collinsville High School graduate.  On April 28, 1951 she married Bernard W. Evers at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Collinsville.  Betty was a homemaker and she loved being a mother caring for their four children, Linda, Brenda, Timothy and Todd.  She taught Sunday School for over 25 years at Holy Cross, was a volunteer for the Anderson Hospital Auxiliary, and was on the original fundraising committee for the hospital.  She was a member of the Collinsville VFW Post #5691 Ladies Auxiliary, the CHS Ladies Alumni Class of 1949 Card Club, Wednesday morning women’s bowling league at Camelot Bowl, and along with her husband, a past member of the Collinsville Rec Club.  She loved her family, traveling with Bernie, and being at their Lake of the Ozarks home.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Otto T. and Ethel (nee Brinkoff) Karrer; husband, Bernard W. Evers; daughter, Brenda Ann Gasser; and sister, Marjorie Meier.

She is survived by her three children:  Linda S. (Timothy E.) Lauth of Collinsville, IL, Timothy E. (Susan) Evers of Collinsville, IL and Todd M. (Angela) Evers of Collinsville, IL; six grandchildren:  Mary Gasser, Judith (Robert) Brown, Kathryn (Chad) Carter, Erika (Alex) Felt, Alexis Evers and Drake (Alyssa) Evers; her first great grandchild, Baby Boy Felt, due later this month; brother, Robert Karrer of Collinsville, IL; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

In celebration of Betty’s life, visitation will be held on Monday, December 20, 2021, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 304 South Street, Collinsville, IL 62234.

Funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. officiated by Rev. Kyle Wright.  Entombment will be in Holy Cross Lutheran Cemetery, Collinsville, IL.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Sunday School or KFUO Radio and will be received at the visitation or can be mailed to the funeral home at 2800 N. Center Street, Maryville, IL 62062.
