George Lammers

George M. Lammers, 80, of Wilson, WY; formerly from Alton, IL, passed away on Tuesday, February 23, 2021, at 4:51 a.m. at his home surrounded by his family. 
He was born on December 25, 1940, in Alton, IL, the son of George Mitchell Sr. and Annamae (Horn) Lammers. 

On September 10th, 1966 he married Joan Wilder Emery. She preceded him in death on December 2, 2020.

George was a civil engineer, having graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Southern Illinois at Carbondale. He retired in 1988, after a 25-year career with the Illinois Department of Transportation.

Besides spending time enjoying retired life with his family and grandchildren, George also enjoyed golfing, fishing, snow skiing, sport shooting, flying, and traveling.
He was also a member of the Franklin Lodge 25 A.F. & A.M. for 58 years, himself being a Master Mason, thirty-second degree of the Scottish rite, and a regular contributor to the Shriner’s Hospital.

George was an active member of the Main Street United Methodist Church during their years spent in Alton, IL before he and his wife retired to their summer home in Wilson, WY. George and Joan enjoyed spending their winters in sunny Key Largo, FL at the Ocean Reef Club.

George was extremely thankful for the in-home care both he and his wife had received from Esther Gonsalves and her staff at Teton Home Care Plus during the last stages of their lives.

He is survived by his three children, Lisa Crispi (Jon) of Oswego, IL and their two children, Hannah and Mitchell; Katie Cox (Brian) of Johnston, IA and their two children, Carsen and Carrigan; and Molly Elliott (Brian) of Glen Carbon, IL and their three children, Jackson, Samantha, and Harper; and his brother, Frederick Lammers.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Markwell.

There will be an open visitation held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Friday, March 5th, 2020, at the Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Upper Alton, with a masonic ceremony in closing. A private interment is to follow at Upper Alton Cemetery.
