Harry A. Woods Jr., 76, died at 3:06 a.m. Monday, October 26, 2020, at OSF St. Anthony's Healthcare. Born July 19, 1944 in Alton, he was the son of Harry A. Woods Sr. and Stella M. (Sanders) Woods. Mr. Woods retired in 2006 after 55 years as the owner/operator of Harry's Disposal. On February 14, 1967 he married the former Donneetia Hopper. She preceded him in death on January 5, 2020. Surviving is a daughter, Nancy J. Reathaford (Mark) of Edwardsville and one son, Harry Woods III of Edwardsville, adopted children, Sherry Johnson (Billy) of Cape Girardeau, MO, Rebecca Kay Swarringin (Michael) of Rosewood Heights, Patricia Flanigan (Rocky) of South Roxana, Lloyd Weeden of Edwardsville, Donald Sanders of Edwardsville, Robert Johnson Sr. (Sally) of Cape Girardeau, MO, Rodney Johnson (Connie) of Wood River, Lyndon Johnson (Julie) of Cottage Hills, five grandchildren, Harry Woods IV (Megan) of Bunker Hill, Stephanie Woods of Alton, Samantha Woods of East Alton, Valarie Martin (Wes) of Edwardsville and William Jones of Alton, and five great grandchildren.
A drive thru visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 31, 2020 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. Please enter the parking lot from the Rozier Street entrance. Private funeral services can be viewed live via the Gent Funeral Home Facebook page at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 31, 2020. Reverend Richard Goldizen will officiate. Burial will be at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the Kidney Foundation.
