Henry Francis “Hank” DePoty, 83, of Granite City, Illinois passed away at 12:59 a.m. on Friday, September 25, 2020, at Gateway Regional Medical Center in Granite City.  He was born February 19, 1937 in Albion, New York, a son of the late Amos and Cora DePoty.  He married Lois F. (Elkins) DePoty on September 3, 1980 in New York and she survives. 

The United States veteran proudly served his country with the Air Force.  He worked as a television repair technician for many years.  He had worked for Sylvania and later General Electric and had also owned and operated Hank’s TV Repair for several years in New York.  He surrounded his life in music and was a talented musician playing the guitar and any instrument he laid his hands on.  Hank loved serving his Lord and knew that he was making a joyful noise for his savior through his music throughout the years. 

He was a faithful member of New Creation Fellowship Church in Mitchell where he was able to share his talent with others.  He also had a love of animals and cherished his dog, Midnight.  Hank will be remembered for the love and special times shared with his family and friends.  In addition to his beloved wife of 40 years, he is survived by two daughters and son-in-law, Dawn and Rick Hoffmeister Jr. of Ridgeway, New York and Robin DePoty of Albion, New York; a son and daughter-in-law, James and Nancy DePoty of Albion, New York; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Patricia and Bill Wells of Waterport, New York; nieces; nephews; other extended family and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, David DePoty and Kenneth Duncan; two sisters, Doris Suhr and Thelma Banker and a brother, Chuck DePoty. 

In celebration of his life, a public drive through visitation will be held at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City on Friday, October 2, 2020 from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m.  A private visitation and funeral service will follow with Reverend Mike Davis officiating.  Burial with full military honors will be at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, Missouri.  In lieu of floral tributes may be made to the DePoty family and may be accepted at the funeral home.  www.irwinchapel.com
