Joanne Davis

Joanne Davis, 84, passed away at 1:13pm on Monday, May 21, 2018, at Rosewood Care Center in Alton. She was born on May 14, 1934, in Jerseyville, Illinois, the daughter of the late Leo and Blanche (Green) Cummings. She married Charles L. Davis, Sr. on February 15, 1954, in Jerseyville, and he preceded her in death on March 18, 2011. Survivors include two daughters and sons in law: Jeannie and Greg “Toad” Wedding of Bethalto, Denise and Mark Weiser of Alton, seven grandchildren and their spouses: Derek and Rikki Wedding of Lawrenceville, Georgia, Jodie and Severene Savage of Rosewood Heights, Amie and Jared Harmon of Santa Rosa Beach, Florida, Lyndee and Brandon Austin of Santa Rosa Beach, Florida, Kari Davis and her fiancé: Benjamin Thompson of Granite City, Justin and Katie Rhoades of Granite City, Jessica Weiser of Granite City, eighteen great grandchildren: Kyle Tidwell, Ashley Tidwell, Severene Savage, Arlie Davis, Mason Savage, Caden Harmon, Abigail Austin, Chloee Harmon, Aubre Austin, Kaylie Savage, Ally Austin, Aubrey Weiser, Triton Catalano, Charli Jo Wedding, Alivia Austin, Colton Harmon, Cutler Wedding, Ryla Kellems, and one great – great granddaughter: Zoee Tidwell.

Joanne was formerly employed as the shoe factory in Jerseyville, Maholland’s Restaurant in Jerseyville, and was a cashier at Farm & Home in Jerseyville. She enjoyed gardening, taking care of her flowers, cooking, taking care of her fish pond, and taking long drives with her husband.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a son: Charles “Arlie” Davis, Jr. and a grandson: Ronnie “Jake” Eugene Tidwell.

In celebration of her life, visitation will be 10:30am until time of services at 12:30pm on Saturday, May 26, 2018, at Pitchford Funeral Home in Wood River. Funeral services will be held at 12:30pm on Saturday at the funeral home. Brother Jerry Chastain will officiate. Burial will follow Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville.
