Warren J. Lyerla, 79, of Bethalto, passed away at 7:42 pm on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at his home.
He was born on October 17, 1938 in Raymond, IL, the son of Warren and Nellie (Malloy) Lyerla. He married Brenda J. Reedy on July 2, 1959 in Bethalto. She survives.
Warren is a Veteran of the United States Army. He was employed at Dow Chemical Corporation as a press operator before retirement. Warren was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church for many years. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by three children, Joseph Lyerla of Bethalto, Michael Lyerla of Bethalto and Deborah (William) Bates of Bethalto; three grandchildren, Nicholas, Brock and Gabrielle; a sister, Helen Maedge of Staunton; a brother, Lyle (Violet) Lyerla of Worden; and a great grandchild, Alidia Grace.
Warren was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Lee Martin; and a sister, Annie Hooker.
Visitation was held on Thursday, May 17, 2018 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto. Father Tom Liebler was the officiate. Burial followed at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto. Per the wishes of the Lyerla family, all services were private.
