Joyce May (McGlasson) Houston went home to be with the Lord on Sunday May 13, 2018. She was born in Walkerville IL on October 16,1934 to Alvin and Hilda McGlasson. She married Carl E. Houston on March 16, 1951, in Alton, IL. He went to heaven on November 8, 2014. Together they had three children, Don Houston, Carla (Ken) Hedger of Alhambra, IL, and Carol (Randy) Tucker of Pensacola FL. She had 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, and two grandchildren, Robert Dale III and Amber Tucker.
Joyce began her working career as a home health aide. She then became a surgical assistant at St. Joseph Hospital in Alton, until one night while on call she came in during an ice storm and fell injuring her back. She then got her real estate license and became a property manager. She managed Brittany Apartments in Alton and multiple locations in Dallas TX. She loved to embroidery and her and Carl were never apart. They had 64 wonderful years together.
Joyce loved the Lord and served with Carl when he pastored and then when he evangelized. She was loved and will be missed. There will be no visitation and grave side services will be on Saturday May 19, 2018, 11 AM at Woodland Hill Cemetery in Wood River Rev. Erik Scottberg officiating. In lieu of flowers the family ask that you make a donation to Royal Family Kids Camp C/O Conerstone Assembly of God 196 Moreland Dr. Bethalto, IL 62010.
