Karen Reeves

Karen Lynn Reeves, passed away at 3:43 p.m. Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at Belleville Memorial Hospital with her family by her side.

  Karen was born October 4, 1955 in East St. Louis.  She was a daughter of Jack Holland and Mary Lou (Thompson) Reeves, Jr.

  Karen graduated from Belleville West High School and immediately started working as a dietician in the cafeteria at Belleville Memorial Hospital where she worked for 35 years.  She made many friends during her service at the hospital.

  Throughout her life, Karen was known for her friendliness and ease of making friends.  She touched the lives of many individuals.

  Karen was a lover of sports, weather, bowling and was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals.  She had a keen ability for remembering baseball statistics.

  Karen also enjoyed family get togethers and loved being an aunt to her two nieces and nephew.  She appreciated the simple things in life and valued her family, friends and her faith.

  Surviving are one brother, Jack Holland Reeves, III, his wife Mary Catherine and their daughter, Madison Nicole, of Alhambra; two sisters, Alison Gail Reeves and her husband, Christopher Story Kaufmann and their daughter, Zoe Meixum Kaufmann of Edwardsville, Gina Renee Richardson and her husband Thomas James of Bethalto and Gina’s son, Quinn Ely Egeland of Boulder, Colorado.

  Besides her parents, Karen was preceded in death by her grandparents, aunts and uncle.

  A celebration of Karen’s life will take place on Saturday, April 21, 2018 from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Gray Funeral Home in Wood River.
