Marion Witt

Marion Udell Witt was born in Hartford, Illinois January 2, 1931 the son of James Marion Witt and Julia (Bond) Witt.In 1948, at the age of 17, Marion joined the US Army and served in the Korean War in 1950.  After recovering from combat injuries he served in Tokyo till he was discharged and returned  home. He proudly attended his honor flight tour with his son Paul just this past year.He was married to Norma Aileen Imel on February 1, 1952 in Rosewood Heights, Illinois and they remained married till her death in 2011.  Marion and Aileen owned and operated Witt Construction Company.  He is a member of the Connect Church in Rosewood Heights, Illinois. He has been a member of the Gideon Ministry, Bethalto Masonic Lodge # 406, Contractors for Christ and contributed to numerous other causes. He enjoyed activities such as hunting, boating, swimming, fishing and scuba diving.  His greatest love was flying and piloting his own plane for many years.Surviving are his son Paul (Dana) Witt from Bethalto Il and daughter Pamela (Rex) Carpenter of Bolivar MO. Grandchildren Brittany Witt, Ivy Carpenter, Holly (Kyle) Boyer, Taylor Witt, Jonathan Witt, Joel Witt and great granddaughter Jentry Boyer, brothers Ray (Geraldine) Witt, Benjamin Witt, and Gary (Elaine) Witt and sister-in-law, Caroline Witt.   Barbara Francis Witt and Barbara Rose Witt. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers  Aaron Dean Witt, James Witt, sister June Ellen and sisters-in-law, Barbara Francis Witt and Barbara Rose Witt.Visitation will be from 10 until the time of funeral service at 1 pm on Thursday, February 26, 2018 at Connect Church in South Roxana with Pastor Charles West and Pastor Dan Smith officiating.Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto with military rites being performed by the Alton VFW Post 1308.Memorials may be made to the Connect Church of South Roxana and or Cypremort Point Missions, 197 Lighthouse Ln.
