Terry Bernard Banks, at the age of 56, transitioned peacefully Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at his home.
Terry was born March 31, 1961 in Alton to the union of the late William and Anita H. (Manns) Banks. She survives.
“Big T”, as he was affectionately called, graduated from Alton Senior High School in 1979 and was an excellent football player and wrestler. Immediately following graduation, he received a football scholarship to University of Pine Bluff, Arkansas. Mr. Banks served in the United States Marine Corp.
His employment included: a transporter at Christian North East Hospital, a bouncer at both Mac’s Time Out Lounge and Riverside Saloon; and coaching the Alton Middle School 6th and 7th graders linemen.
The love of Terry’s life was family and each football team member.
He was preceded in death by his father, William.
Loved ones who remain to cherish his memories: daughter, Dejane` C. Banks; a grandaughter, Kali Ariah Heard, Bumpkin as he called her; loving mother, Anita H. Banks; sister, Cookie (Walter) Harrison; brother, Earnest (Terry) Holman; nephew, Shauntev Brown; 2 nieces, Tiffany Shumaker and Kyra Harrison; 3 great nephews, KeAndre, Shauntev, Jr., and Kobe; 6 great nieces, Shauntevia, Jazmyn, Kyriauna, Daunita, Shaunice, and Skylar; and a host of cousins, and special childhood friends.
Family will receive guest from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. at Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church. Pastor John W. Buford will officiate and Dr. Gregory L. Harrison will eulogize. Per his request, cremation rites were accorded.
