Phillip “Bud” “Bulldog” G. Parks

Phillip “Bud” “Bulldog” G. Parks, 70, of Wood River, passed away on Tuesday, February 13, 2018, at 3:54 pm in Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.

Phillip was born on September 24, 1947, in Eldorado, IL. The son of Philip and Bernice (Barlow) Parks. He married Lynda Mueller on February 6, 1966 in Worden IL.  She survives.

Phillip enjoyed fishing, guns, knives, gambling, collecting coins, throwing washers and bags, playing cards, especially Texas Hold-Em, horse racing, playing the stock market, and barbequing for his family and friends.  He loved his family and friends, especially his grandchildren, whom he had special nicknames for. Phillip never knew a stranger, and was like a father figure and friend to many.

Along with his wife, Lynda, Phillip is survived by 3 children, Stacy and Anthony Ortiz of East Alton, Melissa and Tim Prickett of Wood River, and Dawn and John Laws of East Alton; 5 grandchildren, Jessica and Jessica Parks, Taylor and Ridgely Hubbard, Jarrah Ortiz and fiancé Jacob Tatman, Kennedy Laws, and Kortni Laws;  3 great grandchildren, Kyndall, Vada and Kolbie; a sister Pam Behme of Worden; special “blood” uncle, Stan Witherbee of Staunton;  and a special nephew, Aaron Hankins of East Alton. As well as all the guys he worked with at Shell Oil Company, as a Crane Operator, who refer to themselves as “The Crane Gang”, and special extended family, “adopted” family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be from 12 pm to 3 pm on Saturday, February 17, 2018, at Elias, Kallal, and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto, where funeral services will follow at 3 pm.  Chaplain Randy Butler will officiate.
