Martin A. Steele Sr., 63, died at 3:39 a.m. on Friday, January 19, 2018 at St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield, IL. He was born December 31, 1954 in Alton the son of Gerald and Lupe (Torrez) Steele. He was a mechanic and maintenance worker with various business establishments in the area. He was a member of City of the Lord Church in Granite City. On March 22, 2002 in Edwardsville, he married Christy (Ward) and she survives. Also surviving are four daughters, Shonda Jones (Doug) of St. Peters, MO, Kathy Watts of Nebo, IL, Brandie Barnes (Larry) of Greenville, IL, Amanda Brandon (Bob) of Bulpitt, IL and four sons, Mike Steele of Bethalto, Tony Steele of Alton, Dean Atwood (Josieann) of Brighton, and Michael Atwood of Kentucky, several grandchildren, and great grandchildren, two brothers, Charles Steele(Judy) of Granite City and Robert Steele of East Alton and two sisters, Lisa McBride (Terry) of East Alton and Martha Lair (David) of Rosewood Heights and many other family members. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by two sons, Nathan Atwood and Nicholas Atwood, and five brothers, Jerry, Frank, Richard, Joe and John Steele. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 25, 2018 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton with Pastor Ronnie Johnson Officiating.
