Eva Ashbaker

Eva P. Ashbaker, 99, passed away 6 a.m., Friday, January 19, 2018 at her residence.

Born in Rushville on February 21, 1918, she was the daughter of William and Lillie (Lashbrook) Bowen.

She had worked in the production and as an inspector for the Olin Corporation before retiring. Eva had been a member of the 1st General Baptist Church in Wood River and enjoyed quilting, crocheting and reading.

On July 10, 1937 in Mt. Sterling, she married Robert L. Ashbaker.  He died June 8, 2002.

Surviving are two daughters, Joan Ashbaker of East Alton, Norma (Terry) Abernathy of Rosewood Heights; son-in-law, Craig Eades; four grandchildren, Terri Abernathy (Gregg Wormuth), Robyn (Mark) Voumard, Tina (Mike) Osborne, David Eades; and six great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Janice Eades; four sisters, Pearl Wright, Bessie Kerr, Francis Rittenhouse and Goldie Moreland; and six brothers, Roy, Orville, Arthur, Ray, Charles and Eugene Bowen.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 24 at Marks Mortuary in Wood River.

Burial will follow in Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey.

Memorials may be made to BJC Hospice.
