Mary M. Tepen, 60, passed away at 12:10 am on Saturday January 13, 2018, at Calhoun Nursing and Rehab.She was born on February 23, 1957 in Jerseyville, IL, the daughter of the late Elmer and Lois (Mossman) Kiel. She married Bill Tepen on October 23, 1976 at St. Joseph’s in Meppen.  He survives.Mary was a member of St. Barbara’s Catholic Church in Batchtown.  She worked for Farm Services for over 30 years before she retired. Mary loved cooking, gardening, canning, numerous outdoor activities, and volunteering for the community.  Most importantly, Mary was a loving, wife, mother, and grandmother.  She cherished the days spent being with and providing for those closest to her.  Mary loved cooking, gardening, numerous outdoor activities and volunteering for the community. But most importantly she cherished the days spent with her grandchildren.In addition to her husband, Bill, she is survived by her three sons: Jon (Melanie) Tepen, Ben (Diane) Tepen, and Luke Tepen (special friend Kristin Baalman); three brothers: Ed Kiel, Carl (Joann) Kiel, and Lenny Kiel; two sisters: Diann (Bruce) Sevier and Joan (Jeff) Kiel; seven grandchildren: Logan, Ava, Margaret, Carson, Lillian, Colin, and Charles; numerous nieces and nephews; and her in-laws: Lee (Jean) Tepen, Bette (Kenny) Eilerman, Vernon (Joan) Tepen, Alan Tepen, and Tom (Kay) Tepen.In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her mother and father-in-law, William L. and Marie Tepen; sister-in-law, Barb Kiel; and niece, Jennifer Kiel.Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm Tuesday, January 16, 2018, at Gress, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Hardin.A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 am Wednesday, January 17, 2018, at St. Barbara’s Catholic Church in Batchtown with Fr. Don Roberts celebrant.Burial will follow at St. Barbara’s Cemetery in Batchtown.Memorials may be made to St. Barbara’s Cemetery, St. Mary’s School, or Family Choice.Online condolences and guestbook may be found at www.gresskallalschaaf.com
