Gregory Alan Hernandez, 54, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, December 31st. Greg was born in Alton, IL on January 11, 1963. He was the son of Mary Joyce Laughlin and James R. Hernandez. He married the former Monica Mackevicius and she preceded him in death in 2008. His mother passed away in 2009.
Greg worked in apartment maintenance and loved to fix anything he could. He had a big heart and was always ready to lend a hand.
He is survived by his sister Anne Mccoy (LuAnn Roth) of Jerseyville, IL and a brother James A. Hernandez (Sherry) of Gainesville, TX. Nephews Brandon McCoy (Jennifer) and Nicholas (Ashley Tovo), and a niece Sarah Hernandez, great nephews Ryan, Ellis, and Xander McCoy, as well as aunts, uncles, and many cousins.
A visitation will be held at Alexander & Gubser Funeral Home on Saturday, January 13 at 2:00pm with a memorial service at 3:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Alliance on Mental Illness or a local group, Making A Difference (M.A.D).
