Ruth Gray

Ruth Ann Gray, 89, died at 4:30 a.m. Thursday, December 14, 2017 at Jerseyville Manor.  Born May 3, 1928 in Jersey County, IL, she was the daughter of John and Eva (Downs) Campion.  Mrs. Gray retired as an inspector for Owens Illinois in Alton after 30 years of service and was a member of the VFW Post 1308 Ladies Auxiliary.  On February 26, 1949 she married Leighton E. Gray in Alton.  He survives.  Also surviving is a daughter, Karen (Mark) Bechtold of Godfrey, two grandchildren, Tracie Trexler of Godfrey and Laura (Rick) Moeller of Florissant, MO, two great grandchildren, Lexi Trexler and Jack Trexler, and one sister, Helen Thompson of Godfrey.  Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and John Campion, and three sisters, Edith Wheeler, Florence Williams and Julie Owen.  Visitation will be from 3:00-6:00 p.m. Sunday, December 17, 2017 at Gent Funeral Home where funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 18, 2017.  Burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville.  Memorials may be made to the VFW Post 1308.  Online guestbook and information may be found at www.gentfuneralhome.com
