Shirley Ann Frakes, 85, died at 5:40 p.m. Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at Robings Manor in Brighton. Born September 23, 1932 in Alton, she was the daughter of John W. and Mary Frances (Cannon) Holland. Shirley was an active member of the Wanda United Methodist Church. She worked for Farm Fresh Dairy in North Alton for three years and spent 29 years working for Yungck Medical in North Alton. On December 10, 1949 she married Dale Frakes in Piggot, AR. He preceded her in death on September 3, 2015. Surviving are two daughters, Connie Sue Miller of Tampa, Florida and Linda Patton (Roy) of Wood River, two sons, Mark Frakes of Dow and Kevin Frakes (Anne) of Godfrey, eight grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, one brother, John Holland of East Alton, and three sisters, Joan Ford of Wood River, Dee Copley of Godfrey. Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Charlotte O’Hara, Gloria Holland, Kathleen Rhoades and Oldean Holland. Private memorial services will be held at a later date at Wanda United Methodist Church. Memorials may be made to the Wanda United Methodist Church Building Fund.
