Miriam Ann “Sis” Norman, 74, died at 5:42 p.m. Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at Mercy Hospital in St. Louis, MO. Born October 2, 1942 in Alton, she was the daughter of Julius C. and Miriam A. (Crawford) Brown. Sis retired as a retailer and florist from White’s Greenhouse. She had recently worked in the cafeteria of the Alton Middle School. On April 27, 1963 she married Paul T. “Ted” Norman in Alton. He preceded her in death on August 28, 1993. Surviving are six children, Christopher (Ann) Norman of Alton, Jonathan (Jamie) Norman of Alton, Elizabeth Norman of Alton, Elinore (Gregory) Morin of Bethalto, Mary Norman of Alton, and Sarah (David Sr.) Kane of Godfrey, eight grandchildren; Brian, Ethan and Molly Norman, Emily and Megan Morin, David Kane Jr. and Matthew and Andrew Kane. Also surviving is a brother, Robert Brown of Wood River, a sister-in-law, Delores Brown of Columbia, IL and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Julius “Bud” Brown and a sister, Alice Jane Nevlin. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, September 22, 2017 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton where funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 23, 2017. Reverend David Olson will officiate. Burial will be private at Upper Alton Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
