Perry Sandifer

Perry Sandifer, 67, died at 7:49 p.m. Sunday, July 16, 2017.  Born August 1,1949 in Macon, GA, he was the son of Theron and Marjorie (Perry) Sandifer.  Perry obtained degrees from Asbury College in Wilmore, KY as well as Emory University and Georgia State University in Atlanta, GA.  He retired in 1997 after 25 years as a United Methodist Minister.  Perry was instrumental in bringing the Ugandan Thunder Children’s Choir to our area.  On December 15, 1973 he married the former Nancy Leigh Wilson in Macon, GA.  She preceded him in death on July 2, 2017.  Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Suzie Sandifer of Alton, two grandchildren, Adelia Leigh Sandifer and Isaac Timothy Sandifer, and one brother, Ben (Becki) Sandifer of Macon, GA.  A visitation for both Perry and Nancy will be held from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, July 21, 2017 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton and continue from 9:00 a.m. until time of memorial service at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 22, 2017 at the Godfrey First United Methodist Church.  Reverend Steve Friese and Reverend Don E. Long Jr. will officiate.  In memory of both Perry and Nancy, memorials may be made to the Godfrey First United Methodist Church or Pennies for Posho (Ugandan Thunder).  Online guest book and information may be found at www.gentfuneralhome.com
