Naomi Shane

Naomi June Shane, 92, died at 5:40 p.m. Friday, May 12, 2017 at Eunice Smith Nursing Home in Alton. Born May 13, 1924 in Rockbridge, IL, she was the daughter of Orville and Lydia (Rowden) Bowers Sr. She was a member of Evangelical United Church of Christ. She had worked for Woolsey Grocery Store in Jerseyville as well as for the Jerseyville Water Company. On January 25, 1943 she married George W. Shane in Denver, CO. He preceded her in death on December 30, 1999. Surviving is a daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Jerry Lawler of Webster Groves, MO, two grandchildren, Kelly (Bernie) Schweiss of Webster Groves, MO, and Brian (Korin) Lawler of San Francisco, CA. Also surviving are five great grandchildren, Peter (Kathleen) Schweiss, Katy Schweiss, John Schweiss, Charli Lawler and Buster Lawler, and one brother, Orville Bowers Jr. of Zephyr Hills, FL. Along with her parents and husband she was preceded in death by four brothers, Everett, Howard, Clarence and Leonard Bowers. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville. Reverend Jerry MeCaskey will officiate.
