Mary Kathrene Scott Allen Miller

Mary Kathrene Scott Allen Miller, 86, of Jerseyville, passed away Saturday, April 22, 2017, at Jerseyville Manor. She was born July 19, 1930 in Meredosia, Illinois, the daughter of Russel William and Anna Mary Icke Scott. Mary married Herman Allen in 1975 and together had two children, Virgil and Diana, all preceeding her in death. She married Delmar Lou Miller, March 20, 1993. He passed away April 4, 2017.

She is survived by two sisters, Bernice Allen of Meredosia, and Pauline (Larry) Belleville of Beardstown and her stepchildren, Mindy (Bill) Beshears of Vandalia, MO, Connie Booth of Jerseyville, Michael (Martine) Miller of Godfrey, and Patrick (Cynthia) Miller of Godfrey. Her grandchildren are Mindy (Gary), Brian (Brenda), Amy (Kent), and Christy (Billy), Christi, Brian, Brooke, Jessica (Matthew), David, Maika, Macie, Leah (Jordan), and Rachel. She has 19 great-grandchildren. Besides her husbands and two children, Mary was preceeded in death by her parents, one sister, Virginia "Blondie" Livsey and two brothers, Bob Scott and Kenneth Scott, Sr., one son-in-law, Roger Booth, and one grandson, Shane (Amanda) Allen.

As a Licensed Cosmotologist, Mary owned and operated a beauty shop for many years in Jerseyville. Mary was a Licensed Practical Nurse and worked for many years at the Jerseyville Community Hospital, much of the time working in the emergency room.

Under Pastor Harry Frazier's ministry in the Gospel Assembly Church in Jerseyville, Mary was church pianist and band director and was well respected as such among the midwest area Body of Christ Churches. Under Pastor Clyde Shaw and Pastor Sam Shaws' ministries she was head of the church kitchen staff for many years being responsible for the cooking for many church meetings and functions. With her husband, Lou, they loved to serve food at the Gospel of the Kingdom Campground in Shepherdsville, KY. They also visited many churches in the United States and traveled to Paris, France on a missionary trip, blessing the people with their singing and her piano playing. She wrote several songs which are still being sung in the Body of Christ Churches. She assisted in cleaning the church and helped in the building of the new church building in Jerseyville. For several years, she assisted in making peanut brittle and large quanities of chili, to raise funds for the church school.

Visitation is from 4-8 PM Monday, April 24, 2017 and 10 AM to 11 AM on Tuesday. The Funeral is at 11 AM on Tuesday, April 25, 2017. Visitation and the Funeral are all at Gospel Assembly Church, 601 South June Street, Jerseyville, IL 62052. Pastor Clyde Shaw officiating. Burial at Oak Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the family to assist with expenses.
