Vivian Rimbey

Vivian Lenore Rimbey, 84, died at 4:44 a.m., Thursday, April 20, 2017 at her home in Rockbridge under the care of her family and Blessing Hospice of Greene County.

Vivian was born on April 8, 1933, one of eleven children born to the late Keith and Grace (Cardwell) Jackson.

She married Dale Eugene “Cap” Rimbey on December 31, 1949 in White Hall and together they shared nearly 67 years of marriage and made their home in Rockbridge for 50 of those years before his death on August 23, 2016.

Growing up in a large family, Vivian learned early on the value of love and compassion and demonstrated those traits every day to not only her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren but with many children in the Rockbridge community throughout the years for whom she cared for in her home.

Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Lynn & Janice Rimbey of Greenfield; a daughter and son-in-law, Debra & Jim Walden of Rockbridge; five grandchildren and their spouses, Tera & Brian Smith of Carrollton; Cary & Jason Flowers of Greenfield; Kyle & Jessica Rimbey of Kane; Shannon Walden and friend Lori Rhodes, and Cody & Michelle Walden all of Rockbridge; thirteen great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Betty & Sherman Devening of Jerseyville and Linda & Ronnie Johnson of Shipman.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Virginia Blumenberg and June Bain; as well as six brothers, Dean, Ronnie, Leroy, Bobby, Glenn “Bo” and Russell Jackson.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m., Sunday, April 23, 2017 at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville where funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m., Monday.

She will be laid to rest alongside her husband at the Witt Cemetery in Rockbridge.

In lieu of flowers and plants, memorials may be given to Blessing Hospice of Greene County in care of the funeral home.
