John Watson

John A. "Jack" Watson, 89, died at 10:20 p.m., Sunday, March 26, 2017 at the Jerseyville Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.He was born in Jerseyville on October 4, 1927, and was the only child born to the late Arthur F. and Catherine E. (Coleman) Watson.Jack was of the Catholic faith, and graduated in 1945 from Marquette High School in Alton.  He served his country with the U.S. Army during the Korean War, and retired in 1988  from Lewis & Clark Community College in Godfrey, where he served with their maintenance department.In addition, his heart was involved in his farm in Fidelity Township, where he able to spend time in the outdoors, and also enjoyed times spent hunting and fishing.He is survived by several cousins and devoted friends.At his request, he has been cremated.A Memorial Visitation will take place from 9 a.m., Friday until time of services at 10 a.m., at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville.  Father Patrick Gibbons will officiated.Inurnment will take place at the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Cemetery in Jerseyville, immediately following the service.
