David L. Russell, 87, passed away at 5:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at Stearns Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Granite City.
Born Jan. 26, 1930 in Carrollton, IL, he was a son of James William and Della (Kitson) Russell.
He married Dora (Hall) Greer Feb. 28, 1953. She passed away Dec. 6, 2008.
A U.S. Army Veteran, David worked as a truck driver for Olin Corp. for 40 years. He was a true country boy at heart, he loved the outdoors and was avid square dancer.
He is survived by 3 sons, Frank (Betty) McCormick of Belmont, Tex., Dave W. (Sherri) Russell of Wood River, and Robert “Bob” (Kathy) Russell of Bethalto; a daughter, Diane (Charles) Daniel of Godfrey; 6 grandchildren, Casey and Ryan McCormick, Steve Russell, Tabitha Zyung, Bryan Enlow, and Dustin Russell; 7 great grandchildren; and a sister, Ida Lopes of Moro.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; brother, Billy Russell and sister, Winnie Poole.
Visitation will be Monday, March 20 at Paynic Home for Funerals from 11 a.m. until services begin at 1 p.m.
Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
