Jack Talley

Jack F. Talley, 82, passed away 10:15pm on Friday, February 24, 2017, at Barnes – Jewish Hospital.  He was born on July 26, 1934, in Leota, Missouri, the son of the late Charles E. and Daisy M. (Taylor) Talley.  He married the former Betty L. Strain on April 14, 1955, in Leota, Missouri, and she preceded him in death on August 7, 2012.  Survivors include three daughters and sons in law: Rita and Bruce Edwards of East Alton, Ronda and Jeffrey Poston of Bethalto, Shela and Gene Blasingim of Bethalto, two sons: Jack D. Talley of Cottage Hills, John E. Talley of Manchester, Missouri, seven grandchildren: Tracey Ogg, Angie Loudenback, Kerry Blasingim, Tiffany Tutterow, Steven Broyles, Keith Talley, Elijah Talley, eleven great grandchildren: Heather, Jasper, Rylee, Hayden, Ashley, Morgan, Michael, Olivia, Evelyn, Tobias, Isabella, one great – great grandson: Hunter, five sisters: Faye, Shirley, Phyllis, Eula, Ada, and one brother: Bill.

Jack was formerly employed at Beall Manufacturing in East Alton as a laborer prior to his retirement.  He was a very talented fiddle player.  He was a member of the Church of Christ in Alton.

In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter: Sonya Broyles, a son: Jimmy Talley, and five brothers and sisters.

In celebration of his life, visitation will be from 4pm to 7pm on Monday, February 27, 2017, at Pitchford Funeral Home in Wood River.  Funeral services will be held at 10:30am on Tuesday, February 28, 2017, at the funeral home.  Bill B. Cooper will officiate.  Burial will follow at Wanda Cemetery in South Roxana.
