Patricia Ann Wappelhorst, 84, passed away at 5:22 am on January20, 2017 at Alton Memorial Hospital.
She was born on October 7, 1932 in Alton, IL, the daughter of Charles & Mary (Hackett) Fritz.
Patricia is survived by her husband, Wilfred, her daughter and son-in-law, Ann &
Sean Sunderlage of O’Fallon, Missouri, two grandchildren, Christian & Elizabeth Sunderlage. Patricia married Wilfred Wappelhorst on September 19, 1959 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Alton.
Patricia had a loving and generous heart and was always giving to others, and was devoted to her family, grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.
She was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Godfrey and graduated from Marquette Catholic High School in Alton.
She was preceded in death by a son, Mark Wappelhorst, two infant sons, Brian and Brent Wappelhorst; two brothers, Charles and John Fritz and two sisters, Helen Gustine and Mary Monje.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm Monday January 23, 2017 at Staten-Fine Funeral Home in Alton.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am Tuesday January 24, 2017 at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Godfrey with Fr. Steve Pohlman celebrant
Burial will follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Godfrey.
Memorials may be made to St. Ambrose Catholic School endowment fund or Marquette Catholic High School memorial fund.
