Wayne John Wallendorf, 86 died at 9:15 p.m. on Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at Eunice Smith Nursing Home in Alton. He was born May 23, 1930 in Batchtown, IL the son of the late August John and Ethel (Klaas) Wallendorf. He was an industrial supply salesman with Anchor Packing for 20 years and later he was self-employed until he retired in 1995. He was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Godfrey, and former member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Brussels. He was an also a member of Knights of Columbus in Alton and the Order of St. Francis (OSF) Lay Fraternity. On October 9, 1954 in Meppen, IL he married Catherine Elizabeth (Pluester) and she survives. Also surviving are one daughter; Diane Upton of Austin, TX and two sons; Mark Wallendorf (Candace) of Westminister, CO and Michael Wallendorf of St. Louis, MO and six grandchildren; John, Jillian, Brian and Steven Wallendorf, Kendra and Kieth Upton, and one daughter in law; Laura Wallendorf of Alton. He was preceded in death by his step-father; George Carpenter, one son; David Wallendorf and one bother; Rodney Wallendorf. Visitation was from 5:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday, December 2, 2016 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 3, 2016 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Meppen, IL with Father Don Roberts officiating. Burial will be at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Meppen, IL. Memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Brussels, IL. Additional information and online guest book may be found at www.gentfuneralhome.com
