Charles Leonard DeClue, 88, died at 4:40 a.m, Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at the Jerseyville Manor Nursing Home.He was born in Richwoods, Missouri on April 14, 1928, and was the son of the late Joseph and Mary Frances (Boyer) DeClue.Leonard spent the first 41 years of his life in Richwoods, and after the passing of his parents, his family moved him to Jerseyville, where he lived comfortably and happy, residing most of those years in his apartment on Cope Drive, until recently moving to the Jerseyville Estates, where he received such loving care.He loved children and was often found assisting in the nursery at Charity Christian Center in Jerseyville, and enjoyed all the classic old movies as well as original country western music.  Leonard was a happy man, with the exception of the day Kentucky Fried Chicken in Jerseyville closed, and lived a contented and peaceful life.Leonard was the last surviving member of his immediate family, and is survived by many loving and caring nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Cletus DeClue; and five sisters, Grace Cain, Blanche Rulo, Lorene Cain, Lena Mayhew, and an infant, Bernice.Visitation will be from 9 a.m,. Friday until time of funeral services at 11 a.m., at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville.  His nephew, Rev. Wilbur Cain will officiate.He will be buried in the Fieldon Cemetery.Memorials may be given to the Charity Christian Center in Jerseyville.
