Marcella (Sinclair) Wilson, age 91 passed away on Thursday October 20, 2016. She was born in Alton Illinois on December 31, 1924.

She grew up in Alton, attended local schools, graduated from Alton High School and attended Shurtleff College in Alton.

She worked in St. Louis and later at the Wedge Bank in Alton. She enjoyed her years of involvement in the Girl Scouts where she was a troop leader, as well as her involvement in the Altar Society with St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Alton. She remained an active member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Grafton.

Marcella and William R. “Bill” Wilson were married in 1959. He survives. The couple had two children, Maggie of Grafton, and Marcie of California, both surviving. Also surviving are her grandsons, Jesse Weller of Grafton, and Travis and his wife Beth Anne Weller of Jerseyville. She is also survived by her two great-grandchildren, Gracie Weller and Claire Marcella Weller of Jerseyville, her brother Harold “Doc” Sinclair of East Alton and her sister Margaret “Becky” Pankratz of California as well as several nieces and nephews in the Alton and Godfrey area.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Margaret (Newman) Sinclair and Harold Sinclair; a daughter Helen Jeanette Evans of Missouri, as well as her sisters Helen Ufert and Dolores Pitt.

Marcella is lovingly remembered as a kind and thoughtful person. She loved her family and was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a faithful and dedicated member of the Catholic Church. She enjoyed music, classic movies, and holiday cooking. She is a cancer survivor.

Visitation will be from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. A mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Grafton.
