Barbara Woelfel

Barbara Woelfel, 73, died at 11:06 p.m., Monday, September 26, 2016 at Jersey Community Hospital after several years of deteriorating health.She was born in Carrollton on April 20, 1943, and was the only child born to Pearl & Clara Loretta (Thien) Stocks.Barb graduated in 1961 from Jersey Community High School and shortly thereafter , on April 28, 1962, married Ronald J. Woelfel at the Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Jerseyville.  Together, their 54 years of marriage were filled with numerous adventures, courtesy of the three sons they raised, but the smile on her face always confirmed that Barb was extremely proud of the men that her boys had become.She enjoyed being around people, and was employed at Country Companies and the State Bank of Jerseyville for 13 years, before accepting employment at the Jersey County Courthouse where she began in the County Clerks Office and retired from the Supervisor of Assessments Office, and was blessed with numerous close friends.Surviving are her husband, Ronald J. Woelfel of Jerseyville; three sons & daughters in law, Craig & Sarah Woelfel of Charlotte, NC., Gary & Mindy Woelfel of Jerseyville, and Dan & Chris Woelfel of Columbia; six grandchildren, Ellie Woelfel, and her fiance' Eric Winder  and Mary Grace Woelfel all of Charlotte, NC; Holly Woelfel, a student at Illinois College in Jacksonville, Brady Woelfel of Jerseyville, Max Woelfel and Reese Woelfel both of Columbia; a great granddaughter, Emma Winder of Charlotte, NC.Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville.A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10 a.m. Friday at the Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Jerseyville, with Father John Patrick Day officiating.Burial will be in the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Cemetery in Jerseyville.Memorials may be given to the St. Francis/Holy Ghost Catholic Schools in Jerseyville.
